Rock Wool Insulation
Rockinsul Rockwool
is the product of the most recent innovations in insulation materials
technology. The world's most proven nd widely used insulation. Rockwool
is now being manufactured in India by Rockwool India Limited, using
sophisticated technology and expertise of our foreign collaborators
KIMMCO itself a glass wool licensee of Isover Saint Gobain France.
Rockinsul Rockwool
is manufactured from various types of Diane rock, mainly basalt of
specific predetermined chemical compositions which is melted at super
high temperature in a technically advanced but simple process. The
resulting natural silicate is drum spun at very high speeds to produce
'hair-fine' inert fibres that are bonded together with a special
thermosetting resin, and impregnated with special additives.
Recent development
in our collaborators laboratories hae resulted in a number of products
that provide highly effective thermal insulation, fire and sound
proofing in commercial and industrial applications. Because of its
unique thermal properties. 'Rockinsul' Rockwool has a broad range of
service temperatures and meets increasingly strong demands for us in a
wide spectrum of application areas, such as - buildings, offices,
hospitals, schools, factories, refineries, fertilizers and
petrochemical industries, offshore drilling facilities, in ships,
thermal power stations, steel plants, boiler and turbines, surface
transport, appliances, heat exchangers, ESP, HVAC systems, cold
stoppages and many other. Each year new applications are being found
for this extremely versatile and reliable product.
Rockinsul Rockwool
products are being manufactured in India to Indian and international
standards. To ensure quality the plant is computerized right from batch
making to the end products. In the past, insulation was regarded as an
'extra' or luxury and was mostly used for process control and to a much
lesser extent for energy conservation. Today insulation is a subject no
architect, builder, industrial consultant, engineer or planner can
ignore. It is now accepted as an essential part of plant and building
construction and if properly applied, conserves energy and prevent s
its waste, thereby saving money. The current cost of energy and capital
which is continually increasing has made insulation vitally important
and its use is considered an effective means of containing costs,
making its probably the most proven and universally applicable solution
for the conservation of energy and therefore contribute to environment
protection.
The primary functions of insulation are
- Heat loss reduction, based on the principle of optimum economic insulation thickness
- Personal protection, by limiting the surface temperature of the jacket of the coverting
- Protection of person and installation in case of fire
- Reducing noise levels
- Controlling temperatures to preserve process conditions or to prevent excess temperature drops
- Preventing condensation inside pipes and ducts
- Preventing condensation outside pipes and ducts
- Optimization of the use of heat tracers
- Contributes to lower the CFC emission.
The
specific characteristics of insulation materials are designed on the
basis of these above functions. The unique properties of 'Rockinsul'
Rockwool which ensure effective thermal insulation, fire protection and
noise control are:
- Low thermal conductivity in a wide temperature range
- High temperature resistance because of the high melting point of the fibres
- Wide temperature application range
- Non combustible
- No 'punking'
- High fire resistance
- High mechanical performance
- No hygroscopic, water repellant, moisture stable
- High sound absorption
- Chemically neutral, contains no corrosion causing or providing components
- Easy to handle, fit and install.
